Jason Mraz

Ok, when it comes to music I have no talent at all, in fact in High School I was the only student not required to be in the ensemble...
You get my point.
But that is not to say that I don't enjoy music. I have been introduced to several artists over the years, DMB, Raul Midon, Marc Broussad...
Another one would be Jason Mraz, now I am bummed because I was looking at going to his concert in Santa Cruz in a few weeks but the show was sold out, but in the process I found a new song that I hadn't heard of his. "I'm Yours"
When I find a new song or artist that I enjoy I listen to it constantly
That has been Mraz as of late.

Ok so I don't know how to add videos yet, but check it out.

Happy 9133rd day!

So today has been fun, it is my 26th birthday or 9133rd day of life, unless you count the time in the womb... So this has been more of a birth week since I have had two dinners, a lunch, cake brought to my office, a couple of gifts, tomorrow I was told that they would celebrate it during staff meeting, and on Friday some more of my friends are planning a dinner for me then too. 26 is turning out to be pretty good.

Utah

Ok, So the plan was to blog while I was in Utah, that didn't happen, I didn't have the opportunities due to signal on a Verizon wireless card, lack of availability at the locations we stayed at, and lastly and mostly I had no time for it. So, in the next few days to weeks I will take the time to recall some of the awesome experiences I was able to be a part of.

Its late and after only getting 2 1/2 hours of sleep and spending 17 hours driving I am going to bed. In my own bed I might add!

I knew the rule and still broke it...

So I know that the first rule of going off-road is to never go alone, not just another person but another vehicle. I guess this is an example of knowledge and wisdom... I knew I shouldn't but it didn't translate into wisdom, which would be the application of the knowledge. enough of that smart talk, this is about 4x4s. So I went to hume this weekend and decided that Brandon and I had some extra time until the rest of the group arrived so we hit a trail. I had been on it before, I knew what to expect and I even told Brandon, "we shouldn't be doing this w/o another vehicle but I will turn around before it gets to bad." Not 2 minutes later we are buried to the frame in the white stuff. Now I am not a complete idiot, I brought a shovel... Well we spent a while digging the truck out, put wood under the tires and aired down the tires for a larger surface area. We got out. In the process of airing down in snow without a gauge, I managed to break a bead, I blame Brandon though since he was in the drivers seat when it went...

So here is the solution, and I will be getting a set sometime in the near future...

Staun tire deflators provide an easy way to automatically deflate your tires to a precise pressure for any off highway driving. Forget the backbreaking task of constantly deflating and checking the tire with a pressure gauge. Staun tire deflators simply screw onto any standard tire valve and automatically deflate to any preset pressure you desire. Staun tire deflators will let you down!

Eh, at the end of the day we had an adventure where nobody got hurt, no damage was done and I got another post out of it. Thanks to the awesome cool guy at the Hume maintenance shop that remounted my tire for free. Hey, I guess this is part of the whole living life thing that I mentioned in my profile...

I'm Done.

Hemingway

For the record, HEMINGWAY SUCKS!
I am 9 units away from my BA, and because of my wonderful advisors I am in an Intro to Lit. class. I am writing a 3-4 page paper on a story that is 3 and a 1/2 pages long!
oh and in case I forgot to mention it, HEMINGWAY SUCKS!
just my humble opinion.

Team Lame -in-ite!

So today we made up the teams for our mission trip to Utah, I was placed as a team leader, and helped to situate the teams when we were almost done I had to take care of something else so I left the office, shortly after I returned and was informed that the teams were named. I get to lead the Lame-in-ites! all of the names are based around an LDS theme, my team is based off of the Lamenites one of two people groups that originated from the Jews coming to the ancient Americas...

HAWKey...

So this week has proved to be very busy, and as a result i haven't been able to post much, but here are a few pics from playing hockey with Jason Dunn of Hawk Nelson. The concert was a success, about 1250 in attendance, load in and tear down went smooth, the only difficulty was a knee injury that occurred during the hockey game. Oh and for the record, Loren Pankratz (college pastor) and myself beat Jason, Adam, and David 11 to 6. For the record I don't care if you are a big rockstar this is my house... Jason didn't like that and he tried to get me while i was down.

Hawk is Here

Alright so in about 7 hours a few tour buses should be pulling into the New Cov parking lot. Aboard those buses are the members of the band Hawk Nelson, RunKidRun, and After Eight? (the last band just joined the tour.) So tomorrow should be an insanely busy day for me from load in to tear down, but I may be playing some hockey with the guys from Hawk! The guys have requested that we set up a place or them to play, and since I used to play back in the day I was asked to bring my old gear just in case. So we will see.

Settlers of Catan

So tonight I played the game "Settlers of Catan," with my friends Kevin and Jesse. Now this isn't a new game for me but we did add in the expansion pack "Cities and Knights" which was awesome! (It helps when you win the first time you play a new game ...or at least the expansion) The expansion adds a whole new dimension to an already amazing game. The game was pretty intense, Kevin and I were jockeying for the lead for a large portion of the game, while Jesse was adding in his trickery and deception. All in all it was a great night. The beauty of the game is that no two games are ever alike, the board changes each time and the game creates its own economy; so in one game ore could be outrageously valuable and sheep could be a dime a dozen or the other way around. Its a great game and if you like strategy games it a must play.

Utah here we come

Well I am a few days into the blog thing and this is my second post. I haven't had much time to post due to my schedule. I am a week out from going on a mission trip to Utah to discuss matters of faith with members of the LDS Church. We leave Cali on the 17th, but before I leave for that trip I have a concert (Hawk Nelson & Run Kid Run) this Tuesday, and a retreat the 14th - 15th, then I race down from the mountains for Church on Sunday. Mix in training sessions for the Utah trip (some of which I am helping lead) continuing to write curriculum for small groups, prepping a Sunday message, and all of the other odds and ends that make up my job. Please don't think that I am not complaining, in fact, this is a lot of why I love doing what I do. I am excited about returning to Utah, I was able to go last year on the pre-trip, so I have included pictures. One thing I would ask hough is that you would pray for the team while we are in Utah. This trip is way different from most mission trips as the emphasis is not on servant evangelism but on apologetics. We will be in Utah from the 17-22 of March. I will try to post and update on the happenings, but with how busy our schedule will be and the fact that most free time is filled with studying on LDS doctrines posts may be few. If you are of the LDS faith please know that I mean no disrespect; Orsen Pratt once said that if we are wrong, please reason with us and show us the errors of our way (not a direct quote but the idea...) so in that spirit we are going to Utah to share what be have found to be truth.

So I am trying this out...

If you know me, you know that I am not the best at keeping up with stuff like this so it should be interesting to see how it goes...

The Plan is to highlight random things that i have going on in my life, thoughts (though few), things I find interesting, stuff I find cool or entertaining, life experience and whatnot.

This is gonna be a place to vent and relax. This is me, while I am a pastor at New Covenant Community Church, everything on this blog should be considered my personal opinion. Opinions, conclusions, or other information expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views of New Covenant, my co-workers, or my staff. Don't blame them.
